Group Communication: communication that takes place between a number of people who are working toward a similar goal, they engage with each other in an organized way, and they standardize their behavior based on rules they are all aware of. Within group communication there are norms, roles, ranks, and controls which dictate how the group should be run. Researchers agree that a group should be between 15 and 20 people and not more because when you exceed 20 people than it is difficult for everybody to communicate effectively with the other members of the group (DeFleur, Kearney, Plax, & DeFleur, 2005).
