Intercultural Communication

Intercultural Communication: the management of sent messages meant to create meaning between or among different cultures. The key defining aspect of intercultural communication is that the two or more interacting cultures have to be influenced by their different backgrounds; it cannot be just an out-of-the-blue encounter. The cultures attempting to communicate have to have the desire to engage in dialogue about a subject that is of interest to both groups, whether it be religion, music, or something else of importance to the groups (DeFleur, Kearney, Plax, & DeFleur, 2005; uky.edu).
